Hi

This is an imago of Vermileo nigriventris (female). - Vermileonidae. Yesterday I had a very rare sight: I saw TWO Vermileo sp. in the same spot! It is not usual. The larvae are easy to find, but their imago no.... without rearing the larvae, of course.

Not uncommon, however is easily unnoticed... so far I have found 5 vermileonids since 2006... 2 indoors, and the other 3 outdoors. I've found today 2 at 7 pm in the same place I saw the Cyrtus gibbus!!

That question for the mirror is just pain.. pure pain. You can ask for the mirror who is the most beautiful princess/prince... but for a fly?? Never! Smile It would collapse itself with so hard choice. eheh

Well, here comes the Vermileo sp.
Just for a future note: Yesterday I spot the beautiful Sybistroma - http://diptera.in...d_id=23166 ; Chamaemyiidae fly (maybe the Leucopis), the Villa ixion - http://diptera.in...to_id=3377; Psychodid species waiting for determination; Limnophora spp. (maybe the probable riparia - unusually more bluish) ; Athyroglossa sp. ; Anthrax anthrax -http://diptera.in...to_id=2740 and Zodion sp.

Jorge,

The first picture is almost perfect. You should nevertheless try to mask the light reflexion in the middle. Maybe with the healing tool in Photoshop.

thanks Pierre. I use much more the Patch tool. (due the dust in CCD sensor! Angry )
To me, the pic has other problems as well. For example, the abdomen is overflashed awkward it has a line of light... I never liked mirror for backgrounds, but the fly was there . However there are some awesome photos with that as background.
Also the colour of fly is not appealing. It was a "fail" photo.
The second was purposed for ID solely. Not for aesthetic photo. For some more aesthetic photos I managed to take a good photo of Bembix sp... (but not a fly Smile eheh) if you are interested in just check it out here:http://www.flickr...os/omeuceu/
And, thanks for your input.
