Not a good pic for ID puposes but are these wasps?- white faced about 10mm long basically dark bodies. Taken today South coast UK. Never seen these before.

Yes, definitely bees ... but bees are just fluffy wasps Wink If you could get a good look at a bee's body hair you should see that it is branched, making it look fluffy, unlike a wasp's which is straight.

Apoidea = Bees: Hairs bifid or bifurcate, or feathery ,or barbed ( hind thorax Nomadidae )! View in granzing light with binocular!


Others : Vespoidea, Sphecoidea, and Pompiloidea....... simple hair!
