Not a good pic for ID puposes but are these wasps?- white faced about 10mm long basically dark bodies. Taken today South coast UK. Never seen these before. Brian V.  |

Yes, definitely bees ... but bees are just fluffy wasps  If you could get a good look at a bee's body hair you should see that it is branched, making it look fluffy, unlike a wasp's which is straight. |

Apoidea = Bees: Hairs bifid or bifurcate, or feathery ,or barbed ( hind thorax Nomadidae )! View in granzing light with binocular! Others : Vespoidea, Sphecoidea, and Pompiloidea....... simple hair! cthirion |
