Two interesting syrphid species were found in Finland in 2008: Brachyopa zhelochovtsevi Mutin, 1998 and Sphaerophoria pallidula Mutin, 1999. These species were originally described from Siberia.

A paper with keys and figures for these two species has been published by by A. Haarto & S. Kerppola. The article is mostly in Finnish, but the keys are written also in English (like the syrphid book of the authors). The paper can be downloaded here.
