20 July 2008, The Netherlands, Havelte. On small path, in the sun. I see a lot of M. cing.ulatus, but this one was larger (20-22 mm). Or is it perhaps an other genus? Klaas Klaas attached the following image: [139.2Kb] |

Hi Klaas, I think it is a Machimus arthriticus. Do you have more pictures of this specimen? Greetings, Danny Wolff |

Hi Danny, I have 4 pictures, but more or less from the same point of view. What info do you need for an id? Klaas |

Thorax I think some spines of scutelum broke off. (Probably there have been 6 spines, 4 pale ones in the middle and a smaller one at each side. Or it is just 4 spines) Klaas attached the following image: [134.37Kb] Edited by Klaas on 17-12-2008 23:51 |

Hi Klaas, yes, now it is clear that it is M. arthriticus. The very brown coloured wings and wing veins confused me a little bit. But the short spine-like hairs on the humeri ("shoulders"; other Machimus have fine hairs) and the spines on the underside of the front femora together with the colour of the legs are good characters.
