Hello! All these flies were photographed yesterday here in Ostwestfalen/Germany on a meadow near the forest. I wonder, if all of them are Stratiomyidae. Thanks for any hints! The first one (5-7 mm) looks like a picture of Actina chalybea (= nitens) in one of my books: And is this Microchrysa polita (length about 3.5-4 mm): About these two (slightly larger and bulkier than M. polita) I'm not sure about the family. Perhaps even Syrphids? Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

Nearly right, right and right ! The first soldier fly is Beris (?) chalybeata (some very similar but rare species), indeed near Actina. the second is a Microchrysa, can't tell speicies. The possible hoverfly is indeed a Syrphid: Eumerus Theo zeegers |
