(Gahash - Not far of Tel-Aviv, Israel)
Size: 3-5 mm

Its appear this fly is favorite pray for the Ochthera cf schembrii
and other predatory flies in the pond

wow!!! the first pic is wow! it is an EPhydridae, sure! Ephydra sp. let's go wait for Tony Irwin

It certainly looks like Ephydra - but will be difficult to place it to species without a specimen.
However, it makes the Ochthera look very big - bigger than I would have expected for schembrii - we may need to revise that determination!

Can u list what options of Ephydra known from Israel?

I found source remind the Ephydra flavipes as common at highest salinity level water.

In my case the water are salty due the original source from thrmomineral water use for local Spa

As to the Ochthera. for this I need to think how to do
I do not have any capturing equipments.
Only camera and enthusiasm to play in the sludge Grin
