hello flyforum, I think these flies are Sciomyzidae species. I found them on two different places, but it could be the same species.(I think..) What are they? The third fly was on Tussilago farfara. This hairy female fly remembers me of Egle ciliata, but I am not sure because of the size - ~ 10 mm! Maiby female of this fly are bigger?, or is it an other Egle species? The eyes of this fly are more redish then the flies (Egle ciliata) I saw before (see forumpost choclate eyes). Is this fly also Egle ciliata? I wonder what they are, maiby you can help? greetings, Robert Robert Heemskerk attached the following image: [58.49Kb] Edited by Robert Heemskerk on 15-04-2006 07:31 |

Hi Robert. 3,4 - I don't think now that it is Calliphora. May be Melinda? 2 - I think Pherbellia schoenherri. Nikita Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |

Thank You Nikita! In The Netherlands there is just one kind of Pherbellia, and that is schoenherri. |
