Hi All,

This small fly approximately 3mm long was seen on a willow (salix) Am I correct in thinking it is one of the Tachinidae ? Location is South England and the picture was taken a couple of days ago.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance Chas

The anthomyiid genera looking roughtly like the fly seen above (Phorbia and Egle) are very common in the spring on willow flowers. It's been some time since I last looked at these and I'm not 100% sure if this fly belong to either of these genera.
