Hello!

Is it possible to identify this fly after these photos? Length 6-7 mm, this afternoon at a tree in our garden (northwest Germany).

This is Brachyopa bicolor, very nice. It can be quite easily recognized by the "groove" over the scutellum (especially visible in first pic). This is not mentioned in some keys (like Van Veen, 2004). Also, if compared with other species, the firm hind femora look like a reliable character.

Hello!

Does this female from today at the forest belong to the same species?

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
