Hi, today a medium-sized fly found the way into our living room. Unfortunately, it insisted on sitting on the window, which made a proper exposure difficult. On the bright side, I was able to make a picture of the underside, too. Nevertheless, the images aren't really good, but its the best I got. My non-educated guess would be, that it might be a female(?) of Sargus bipunctatus or a similar species. Is it possible to confirm or reject this guess from the picture? Hi Uli, female Sargus bipunctatus is correct! The conspicuous, fairly white trim ("The Book" is a very good characteristic as is the yellow base of the abdomen for the female.
