 Wasp drone ? Vespula vulgaris ?

Found today, I think it's a drone, Vespula vulgaris. I took it into the house and feeded it with some honey, after that, I removed it back to the house wall. Poor man! Yes, it is a male and the parallel-sided humeral strip and the indented yellow patch in the eye points to V. vulgaris but the face looks more like V. germanica. And I have never seen a Vespula sp. with that long silvery hair! So I don't dare to give the species a name other than Vespula cf. vulgaris!

Hello Eric, after consulting an expert who regularly relocates wasp colonies, it is a fresh young male wasp, that loses it's silver hair over time or some of it turn black later. Best regards, Volkmar |
