How should one interpret that M bend. Is it a closed cell or is that just an illusion?

Platystomatidae: Senopterina caerulescens Loew 1873. There's a key by Shewell 1962: Can. Ent. 94: 194-200.

Thank you. I found some info by Steyskal, Chapt. 64 in McAlpine's Manual of Nearctic Diptera. I have no access to journals.
