I took pictures of this unknown meromyza in the dunes of Den Helder in The Netherlands on 6th July 2023.

Can someone tell me which species is this?

Thanks a lot.

Greetings,
Mario

Nartshuk and Fedoseeva give lateral views of the 'postgonites' rather than ventral views. Might be a species in the pratorum group, but examination of the actual specimen with the at hand will be necessary.

Thanks Paul. Are there any meromyza-species apart from 'femorata' which can be identified from pictures of the quality I posted on this forum? If that is not the case I will not do anymore attempts to place pictures of meromyza on this forum and if it is ok for you I can can send some to you when I have cought them.

Greetings,

I think for some groups within Meromyza it may be possible to work with pictures like the ones above but in my experience it is quite often necessary to manipulate the genitalia to get the right viewing angle for good comparisson with illustration.
