Hello, this is a larva of Epistrophe on a Sambucus leaf, at home in Arc-et-Senans (France, Doubs). I previously photographed adults and eggs of Epistrophe nitidicollis, but don't know if the larva is distinguishable from that of Epistrophe eligans thank you in advance for your informed opinion ! serenense7 attached the following image: [168.22Kb] |

Hello, Epistrophe sp. is correct, but it's not possible to go to species level without brilliant (microscopic) photos of the PRP (posterior respiratory process).

Thank you for the answer. I forgot to give the date: June 7, 2021. I was hoping the length of the process might give some indication, but I suspected it wouldn't be enough for a sure identification. |
