I presume this is a Syrphidae larva because of what I think are 2 prp. Seen on a Field Maple (Acer campestre) leaf, at a time when there were many aphids around. 2nd June 2022 @ 19:20 Flensburg, N. Germany, 54.753333N 9.421111E, elevation +/-50m Many Thanks in advance. Ray Perry attached the following image: [203.85Kb] Edited by Ray Perry on 27-08-2022 16:06 |

Moin Ray, I'm quite sure it's a Syrphus ribesii - red form.

Moin. Thank You Eric, On 15th June 2022 I saw what I thought was Syrphus torvus in this same grove of trees:- https://observati...249834568/ Last year on 30th August I saw what I thought was Syrphus ribesii close to this location:- https://observati...229410673/ Greetings Ray |

Moin Ray, I'm afraid I cannot help with the Syrphi: I'm not an expert and I've only found one male of torvus some years ago and it had hairy eyes. But it seems, that this is difficult to see at females. (Fotogids Zweefvliegen, André Schulten).
