Hi, I had just identified yesterday's photos of a black slender tachinid (Mintho-like shape) to be Lophosia fasciata, new to me, when I see Roger's thread on the same species. Apparently they are now flying all over Europe! My photos are from a damp forest path in the foothills of the Black Forest (south-west Germany). I think confusion is impossible, the dark banded wings and the broad 3rd antennal segments are striking. Here are some pictures. Wishing you all many more exciting finds, Sundew Sundew attached the following image: [288.46Kb] |

Hello Sundew! I read your post yesterday, and today I saw my first Lophosia fasciata since 5 years. On Heracleum sphondylium on a meadow near forest (northwest Germany). It was only my fourth find ever. Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |
