Laphystia cf. erberi, male. Possibly this is Laphystia erberi (males with distinctive genitalia, see Engel 1938: 255). Almost can see genitalia in first fig. but not enough visible...; shape of antenna and colors of body setae look good for L. eberi (although tibia with more red than typical?).

Thanks Eric for your comment.
When last year 22.06.13 I could observe this flies I could distinguish between a more obscure one wich it was plenty of it, see this photo, and the whitish one on the top of the post, from wich I only saw twice. For me they were cleary different (colouration). Notice also the lenght from the wings, longer at this individual...

By the way, I have remembered I have a copulation from 31.05.14 that could be also Laphystia in another place from Monegros. So its widespread through that zone.

Yet another Spanish mystery. These last two creatures seem to be different species. The copula, we cant see enough, but the right creature seems to have a red base at hind femora what would point at L. hispanica Strobl 1906. I think the type material of this last species should be in Madrid, maybe you can compare.
Greetings,

Reinoud

I am just studying my two females Laphystia and that is why i checked this thread again......The two females i have got are Laphystia erberi.... The last pictures you added are another genus that i can't find yet...... have a look at the wing venation (3rd medial cell M3)and the antennae...... i dare not say what it is, Psilocurus?..... It is not Glyphotriclis or Laphystia........PS: Also look at the shape of the head, distance between the eyes and last but not least mystax. I think the copula is not Laphystia either ...but probably this last species.
