I went wrong somewhere when I tried to key this out - can anyone help me? Northern part of south Norway, Dovre, 24 June. Approx. 600 m asl. Size: 10 - 11 mm.

Hi Morten, I think it's a male Platycheirus scutatus:
Yellow patches on abdomen small
Foreleg tarsus and apex tibia broadened
Fore femur with long hairs ventrally
Coxa II with a rod-like evagination
(Fotogids Zweefvliegen, André Schulten)

Greetings, Eric

Hi Eric
Thanks for your help. :) The shape of the tarsus for S. scutatus does not seem to match "my" fly. (Nationalnyckeln) My fly's face is also heavily projected - can not find this feature in S. scutatus....

Thank you, Roger and sorry Morten: the heavily projected face confused me, too!

Greetings, Eric
