Sochi, mid-nov., hunting on wet part of fast river stones.
It is the largest Dolichopodidae I ever seen (10mm!).

Liancalus virens. Yeah, it's a bit of a giant. This habitat is where it is usually found.
virens hibernates as an adult and it can sometimes to found away from rapids in late fall or early spring, no doubt looking for suitable overwintering sites.

This one was in very siutable place (according Bey-Bienko & K, Insecta of European Russia) - near large waterfall.
