Hello,
I'm working on identifying Syrphids from Finnland, and I am having particular issues identifying
Cheilosia and
Sphaerophoria with the keys I am using (HOVERFLIES OF NORTHWEST EUROPE,
VanVeen 2010 and Tvåvingar: Blomflugor | Diptera: Syrphidae: Syrphinae,
Bartsch 2009). I will only get so far through and then end up with 2-3 possible species, none of which completely agree with what features i am seeing on the fly.
Does anyone have any advice on keys that may be more specific for Nordic / Finnish hoverflies, or anything that may mention the specific different features hoverflies in this very northern area may have?
I would be very grateful! Thank you

Maybe you can find a copy of Suomen kukkakärpäset ja lähialueiden lajeja - Finnish Hoverflies and some species in adjacent countries
by Haarto, A.; Kerppola, S.
I have never seen it.
Very often I use Steven Flak's Flickr page for conformation when I have identified a specimen: https://www.flickr.com/photos/63075200@N07/collections/72157629600153789/. He often gives very useful characters for identification in his descriptions.
