I took these pictures today in my garden. Is it Vespula vulgaris?

Not possible!

Rufa: has black hairs and the eye with the black and yellow hollow, and the temples yellow only in top...... for me, here, it is vulgaris!

I agree and think, that the 'red' on gaster is an opical effect. V. rufa normally has a true and marked red color on tergum I-II.
