Hello,
the pictures were taken on July 17, 2019 east of Bad Frankenhausen, Thuringia, Germany.
The 4 - 7 mm long flies were sitting on rubbish near a grain field, and lots of flowering plants around.
Is an ID possible?
Thank you for answers!
Hans

Theo,
You speak about forms. Do I understand you correctly if I say that are not all orange forms are females? Or are orange forms females and black forms males?
Thanks in advance.

Females can have either black or partly orange legs. I don't think I have ever seem a orange-legged male, though.
