Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Winged ants - nupcial flight?

There was a swarm of winged ants a couple of days ago. These specimen, wich I presume to be males, seem too tired to fly even when manipulated (are they supposed to die now?). I have no idea of the species or even if they are indeed males.

Thank you,

Joaquim Gaspar

the best place for ants in the world is www.lamarabunta.org - spanish forum. The best for ants! (specially for Iberian peninsula)

yep. they are winged males. And I have seen this swarm as well. They appear on walls, windows, even on car!
Formica sp.??
