Hi,
This big robber fly lives in a small mixed forest in Berlin. The photo was taken on 21 July 2007. Is it a Neoitamus species?

Sorry, the fly did not like to pose for more pictures...
Any suggestions for another genus then? I gratefully accept also vague guesses!

no guesses from me (although I have one)! Then, do you have details of the genitalia with a higher resolution? Please from both images. Then I will see, whether I'm right with my guess.

Dear Danny, these details are the best I could squeeze out of the seven pics I have. As I sneaked up from behind, the position is, unfortunately, rather identical. When I tried to shoot a side view, the fly got up and away. My small pocket camera with autofocus does not allow for a close approach anyway, so I am afraid the resolution will not be sufficient, but please have a try. I am looking forward to your results!

this is a male Philonicus albiceps. Do you have the exact site (which of the Berlin forests and maybe the number of the "Jagen"?) for me. I would like to use the data in my atlas:
