Hi everybody,

This what I believe is a Ichneumonidae sp was sunbathing on a leaf a couple of weeks ago. It was bigger than most Ichneumonid wasps I've spotted in my garden. Even now I'm beginning to have second thoughts about it being Ichneumonid.... Is it?

I just can't find it in the books.

Can anyone shine a light on this?B)

Cheers!

Could it be a sawfly (Xiphydriidae)? Looks like a Syrex sp. but the antenae are too long.

Doesn't look like a Symphyta to me - look at the narrow waist. Looks more like family Pimplinae, genus Pimpla maybe.
