Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Unknown diptera (?)

I haven't the slightest clue about this insect. It looks like a fly when seen from above and like a wasp when looked from the side. It was resting on a leaf after raining. It is about 12mm long.

Formicidae... (not diptera) it is a male.

So it is an ant, thank you Jorge! Any idea of the species?
