Hi,
This is a Tachinidae (?) I photographed in Ceranac, in the Dordogne, France in early September. Any suggestions as to identity please.
Sorry the quality is not the best.
Many thanks
Gordon
I think I,ve found the problem with with previous uploading. 'If all else fails read the instructions'. Which I have now done. I used caps for the file extension.
Sorry

Felicitation with loading.
I'm a student on this forum, but for me fly rather looks like Anthomyiidae.

I agree, but it IS a Tachinid! Congratulations.
You can see the bend in vein M (though not as sharp as in many other Tachinids, I agree).
Another big clue, if you know where to look for, is the long proboscis.
It is extended into the flower on the picture.
This is a clear hint: it is a member of the genus Siphona.
Impossible to tell the species, Siphona is the most difficult genus in Tachinidae in Europe to identify. I won't even try.
