Found this fly on birdbanding station, southern Sweden a few days ago
I think it's either a fringillina and chloropus, but is it possible to identify?
Length, about 4 mm

The size and shape of the eyes suggest to me that this is
Ornithomya biloba. Have you got a clear photo of the wing?

Hello maroo & Tony,
I think it is not biloba, that species has a wider frons, see: (https://waarneming.nl/waarneming/view/161271944)
What would help is a photo of the scutellum and indeed the wings.
Due to its size and darkened genea ventrally I'd say O. chloropus…
Kind regards,
Ectemnius

By the way, is it the microtrichia on wing that is the key here? or is it the wingpattern?
Do you Ectemnius (or anyone else) have any more opinion on this fly, or safe to call it a chloropus?
Best regards
Martin

The wing pattern is slightly off, I don’t know what is going on there.
The microtrichia are pretty difficult to see in practice, it depends on the anlge of light.
You can check for yourslef if there are 4 or 6 bristles around apex of scutellum. If 4 or less, please cjepheck thoroughly for borken bristles, they leave pores.
