Is this Eutolmus rufibarbis?

See https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/13306582 as well. Thanks!

I have Eutolmus rufibarbis male and it looks a bit different than the species in your photo.

you should post Asiliidae queries in the Asiliidae forum to reach the experts. I only have experience with a few species, so i cannot recommend a genus.

Hello again, this one bothers me because it looks similar to the species in my photo. A problem for me is the overall appearance. My specimen lacks such obvious golden hairs, my specimen is more dark gray, silver and black. My specimen has silver hairs on the ventral side of the abdomen (which could be due to the usage of flash). The genital structure appears to be different but this could be due to the angle of photography.

I've searched through all of the genera for Germany and Eutolmus does seem to match.

Furthermore, a photo in the gallery looks very similar to your photo and it is called Eutolmus rufibarbis:

another photo in the gallery looks much like my specimen and it is also called Eutolmus rufibarbis:

I guess that you are correct: Eutolmus rufibarbis male.
Thus, it appears that this species is variable in color. I'm sorry that i lack the experience to know such things about Asiliidae.

Thanks, very interesting, I'll need to do some more digging. The differences in angle and lighting certainly don't make a comparison easier.
