H. lineatum is more furry. It is extremely rare in Europe, these days, if not extinct ( I haven't seen any confirmed record over the last 50 years).
This is H. diana, a species on Cervus elaphus, that flies (early) spring.

Thanks, Theo. I thought that
diana had darker legs, but I guess that can vary, and I have no personal experience of any
Hypoderma.
