Hi,

i have made this photo of a small bee (not very small, something like 10-11mm) in Retezat National Park in 20.august.2007 at aprox 1300m. on flower of some Cirsium.

is looking (at least to me) more particular. maybe can be identified.

thanks in advance,
cosmln

If this was in the UK my first guess :o would be male Lasioglossum calceatum, but I'm afraid I don't know what species there are to choose from in Romania.

In Romania exist some more species of the 'calceatum' group, so in my opinion it is not possible to identify it . But your impression is correct, and a male of Lasioglossum calceatum is possible.

Maybe I am wrong, but I think that Cylindromyia spp mimic this genus among others. I saw these hymenopterans together with many Cylindromyia, and they looked quite similar from a distance.
