Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tachinid from Holland

I saw this dark Tachinid today in Amstelveen. Size of Tachina fera. Habitat: rough grass land, approx chest high, with lots of Hogweed (where it is on in the photographs). Surrounded by suburb. Is it IDable?

You changed wisely Susan ;) Very hairy eyes, projecting mouth-edge, dark basicosta. I'd need to see the male genitalia to be sure of the species though :(

Given the paucity of dark hairs on occiput and the lack of dusting on tergite 4, this is Eu. anthophila (by far the most common species here).
