Hello!

There seem to be some bristles, but enough for a tachinid? The top cell seems closed, but I am not sure. What kind (species? genus? family?) of fly is this?

(Photo July, near Kyoto, size about 7-8mm)

Thanks,
Michael

This is a TAchinid.

By great luck, we can even see which tribe: note the scissorlike appendices at the top of abdomen, typical for Leucostomatini (Phasiinae)

Thank you for your answer Theo. Very interesting those appendices.
