Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Very small Asilidae

At first I thought these small flies, 5-7mm length, must be Dolichopidae, but on closer inspection it surely is an Asilidae? There were many of these sitting about on stones in a dry river bed. Near Bedariuex, Herault, France, July 2007.

Hmm,
I don't think it is Mydidiae as none of the photos I have seen of Mydidae look like these flies. Any more ideas anyone?

It`s a species of the genus
Stichopogon. Please get in touch with Dr. Jean-Henry Maldes, who collected asilids at Bedarieux, too: jean-michel.maldes@cirad.fr
Perhaps he knows the species. Yours
