This rather nice fly was found in the Wyre Forest, UK on 16 June 2007. I think it is Pallopteridae. Can anyone tell me anymore?

I'd say Geomyza.

Far better! It's a Tephritid: Acidia cognata.
Larvae min in leaves of Petasites spp.
It's a very fresh specimen, the colours in the wings aren't fully developped yet.

That one had me completely fooled :D! I never thought about the wing markings not being fully developed.
Thanks for ID help to John and Paul.
