Hi!

I think this must be E. sepulchralis, can someone please confirm this? Is the mottling of the eyes a distinctive feature within that genus? To me it seems so, but who knows...

Right, the spotted eyes, together with the loop in wing vein R4+5, make it Eristalinus. Now there are 2 species: E. sepulchralis and E. aeneus. The first one has hairs all over the eyes and dull patches along the central axis of the abdomen. The latter one has no hairs on the lower part of the eye and a completely shining bronzy-black abdomen. Now it is easy ;).
