Hello,

I thinks this a Cheilosia. But which one?

Thanks in advance for any information.

I think a male of Cheilosia caerulescens.

Paul,

That was also what I thought. With the whitish pilosity...

not only the pilosity but also the dark mark on the wings and the protruding face (you can just see the face through the flower...) make this fly a C. caerulescens. In Belgium this species made a remarkable upcoming. Before 1991 only 4 specimens were known, all in the surroundings of Li?ge, nowadays about everyone who looks at syrphids has it on his garden list (so do I :) ).
