Thread subject: Diptera.info :: unknown fly

Hi,
Please could anyone help me to id this? I can only guess at family.
Rural sussex uk ..maybe 7 or 8 mm? from memory.

It is the genus Chrysopilus of the family Rhagionidae!

it seems to be very common. I spotted this fly as well.

thanks for the id help:) I did wonder about Rhagionidae,but i didnt know females/any had the more chunky rounded abdomen,or big gap between the eyes.
We have hundreds of the males around at the moment ...keep catching the corner of my eye in a robberfly type way ..annoyingly:)
