Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tachinididae?

Any ideas on this fly? Taken this afternoon in my garden in Rye Harbour, East Sussex. Seems to a fairly common species hereabouts

Looks a bit like a
Carcelia sp. but I'd need to see it closer to know which one - or at least confirm the genus. The genus
Carcelia is a bit tricky but it's an interesting group that has had a couple of recent additions to the UK list. I'd be happy to look at it if you took a specimen :)

Great, thanks ... i find a few hours in the freezer compartment does the trick nicely :) You can keep them in there for at least a few days and when you thaw them out they're nicely relaxed :)

The tibiae are quite dark for most Carcelia, this should be an important clue to its identity.
Or it's another genus after all (Huebneria ?)
