Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Machimus male?

location: on the island of Crete, in Greece
date: May 20th, 2007
size: 30-40mm
habitat: around countryside house, near a pond that attracts a lot of insects

I think it's the same species as another one I posted a while ago in this forum, identified as Machimus sp.

I post again because this time it's a much better photo.
Is it Machimus? Is it suitable for the gallery?

I don't know if this helps, but here is a close-up of its genitalia.
Not very sharp though, sorry...
