Hi,

Can anyone ID this (I think) Tachinid fly?
Georgsdorf, Germany, moor, app. 10 mm. 2007-05-15 on Anthriscus sylvestris. Thanks.

Hemyda vittata (or maybe obscuripennis) - a nice tachinid usually found in sunny clearings in old woodland. I am favouring vittata but maybe Theo can confirm which it is.

No, vittata is quite right. The wings are not obscured....
(and the black and yellow pattern is different in obscuripennis)

Hi Chris and Theo,

Thanks for the ID and short description. No images to be found of this one anywhere on the net (as far as I can tell) so impossible for me to find out what it is without your help:) I guess I'll submit them to the gallery.

Good idea. There should be more of these on this forum, once you know what you are looking for, maybe the search-button will help
