Hi, i've got an image of a fly that i was wondering if anybody could offer an ID, or even genus/family?
The image was taken last July in the lake district area of the UK, not far from Meathop Moss. It was feeding/sunning itself on an umbellifer along a shaded woody lane.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Richard

Psilidae,
Loxocera sp. I cannot say more because of lack of details.
And it is customary to have replies in the forum so we all know what we have seen. ;)

Hi Paul,
Thats great, thanks very much. To be honest i've been having difficulties with this one for almost a year, so genus is fantastic! I don't know if it would help any, the specimen was ~9-10 mm from abdomen tip to head. Would that rule in or out any of the UK species?
Thanks
Richard
