Hi
* locality - Silgueiros - Viseu - PORTUGAL
* date - 2007.04.29
* size - 5 mm (medium fly)
* habitat - woodland (many ferns (some small trees..), Fagus spp., Pinus spp., Acacia sp., Urtica sp., and others)
* substrate - Caught with entomological net-
I think this is chironomid fly - a male..
ps it is really alive. ;)B)
EDIT ---> Title changed from "male Chironomidae" to " male Chironomidae - Stenochironomus gibbus" There was a slight doubt about gibbus so the title turns now: "green Chironomidae - Stenochironomus cf. gibbus"
this is a very young male chironomid.

According to Dr. Martin Spies, this is Stenochironomus cf. gibbus - a male (just finished get out from pupa - a very young chironomid). See Green Chironomidae thread to see a very much older male chironomid.
