I'd check Drymeia latifrons Malloch, 1918. Descibed and known from Rocky Mountains, Colorado

Thank you. I didn't expect a species name. It seems consistent as far as I can see. I could never have run it through a key. I live in a moist, temperate climate near sea level and am unfamiliar with alpine and arctic flies.

More likely Drymeia spinitarsis based on the bristles of the mid basitarsus. D. longiseta from the Altai Mountains is a junior synonym according to the revision by Savage and Sorokina.
