Description of Pentax 6.5x21 Papilio Compact Porro Prism Binocular
Named from
Papilio, the Latin word for butterfly and specifically developed for close-range observation of butterflies and other large insects.
Incorporates a mechanism that automatically compensates for the misalignment of right and left image fields at close ranges (parallax), allowing easy observation of insects in the field and exhibits at galleries and museums. Pentax states "multi-coated optical elements to minimize unwanted light reflections for a well-defined subject image. The combination of aspherical optical elements and high-refraction BaK4 glass prisms assures a sharp, clear image with minimal distortion, even at the edges".This was born out by our limited test:D.Around 100 Euro:( but well made and not available from other optical companies). Interesting. I lost my old small monocular. I will check this out. 100 euro isn't that much if the binocular is good. I have Leica binocular and spotting scope ... NOT cheap and for that matter not very portable.
