Hello Forum,

this happy couple was discussed in the German forum on www.entomologie.de, and the provisional result was "Conopidae, Dalmannia, possibly flavescens". The owner of the pics ("Gabi" ) has agreed that these are shown here in this forum. Any comments?

Found 11. March 2007 in the Kaiserstuhl region (SW-Germany, a rather warm region).

Cheers - martin

The couple keys out to Dalmannia dorsalis (Fabr.) in Chv?la (1965) (also his description fits well) and to D. flavescens (Mg.) in the online-keys by van Veen. According to Chv?la (l.c.) both Myopa flavescens MEIGEN, 1824 and Dalmannia flavescens ROBINEAU-DESVOIDY, 1830 are Synonyms of Dalmannia dorsalis (FABRICIUS, 1794)

It was the van Veen online key that made me suggest flavescens. The German Checklist (1999) is in accordance with Chvala and mentions flavescens as a synonym of dorsalis.

So I'm going to call this Dalmannia dorsalis .

Thanks for helping! - martin

I updated the name of the species in the key (http://home.hccne...annia.html). Can I use the photo in the key?
