Thread subject: Diptera.info :: [Otites guttata] Otites sp

Hello,
I've recently been proposed this fly could be
Otites guttata (thanks to S. Lebrun, aka Chlorophana ! ;))
Had a glance at the diptera gallery, and indeed it seems plausible, but is it possible to confirm species on this sole picture, or are they other
Otites sp which can make confusion ?
(Rimont (71) - France - April 2003 - size not noted, sorry)
Thanks for your advice !

With the strong contrast between the lighter and darker parts of the wing it might well be
O. centralis. A more detailed shot might confirm this.

Thanks, Paul.
I unfortunately don't have better view (was 4 years ago, had no numeric camera then !
) : it will remain
Otites sp.

Hi Martha,
It's certainly not
O. guttata, and I think Paul is right with
O. centralis. I will have a look at my collection to confirm this.

Hi,
I tried to re-scan the negative : quality is (really) not better :(, but size is bigger !
I'm not sure whether it will help...
Let me know ! ;)

Hi Martha,
S. Lebrun was correct and Paul and I were wrong!
It's indeed
O. guttata.

Hi Martha,
The wingpattern. It much more pronounced in
O. centralis.
