~4.6mm. Urban environment, Tasmania (Australia). I have seen also a very similar fly from Perth (Western Australia).
Unable to find descriptions that match this one. Would someone know what genus this would fall in from modern keys?
The fore femur have ctenidia (not seen in the pics).
Any help appreciated.

I've done a little homework on this one. Could this be a <i>Meiosimyza</i> species? I don't have a description of that genus but the two Tasmanian species listed are most similar in features to this fly - ie forefemur ctinidia, two pairs of reclinate orbital bristles, dorsocentrals 1+3, & acrostichals quadriserial with bristles of middle rows longer. I got a hint on that last feature from this post:
