Does anyone know if it’s possible to freeze dry pinned Diptera with a sealed box with silica gel in the freezer or if it’s necessary to use an expensive freeze drying machine? My Empids and Platypezids shrivel and gets distorted when drying even if they haven’t been in alcohol.
