This insect was found in my conservatory on the 03/12/06.
Tilehurst - Berkshire - UK.

Please can anyone help with the identification?

In my opinion, it's not a sawfly but some parasitic wasp - that's all I can say.

Presumably related to this? http://www.dipter...post_18444, based on the 'spectacles'.

There are a few sawflies that look like ichneumons ... but I agree, this looks more ike an ichneumon, from the narrow waist and wing-venation.

<-- also in Tilehurst - maybe we're neighbours :D
